Electric Boat offers an excellent learning environment and real-life experience for college students through our internship opportunities.
Engineering
We have over 2,500 engineers currently involved in a significant amount of submarine design work:
- Design of Columbia-class submarines, considered the U.S. Navy’s top priority.
- Virginia-class construction support and design of upgrades such as the Virginia Payload Module and associated payloads.
Engineering interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. With the guidance of Electric Boat’s senior staff, engineering interns will support the calculations, document development, shipyard problem resolution and other various technical activities. An introduction is provided to understand these complex products which lead to the potential inclusion for those who have a passion for this type of problem solving in the staff of the future.
Business Management, Supply Chain and Planning:
Internship positions are available in the Finance, Program Finance, Contracts, Tax, Supply Chain Management and Planning organizations. Interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. With the guidance of Electric Boat’s senior staff and management, interns will assist analysts, buyers, planners and systems coordinators across the full range of professions that support ongoing business operations:
- Preparing Financial Reports and Returns
- Reconciling Accounts Payable
- Processing Labor and Payroll Adjustments
- Analyzing Labor Returns
- Projecting Future Costs
- Updating Management Information Systems
- Planning and Statusing Work
- Assisting with Contract Proposal Preparation and Change-Order Recording
- Tax Analysis and Preparation
- Audit and Compliance
- Labor Resource Requirement Forecasting
- Supply Chain Management
Each intern accepted into the program will be given a mentor for duration of the internship. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain real life experience in the work force, gain insight into the internal processes of a major corporation and apply the skills acquired in school related to the Business Management and Finance area of interest.
