On December 21, 2024, the U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the future USS Iowa (SSN 797), the 24th submarine of the Virginia class. Electric Boat leaders, shipbuilders and the ship’s crew gathered for a ceremony to celebrate the milestone, where ship’s manager Kamal Mohamed presented Iowa’s commander with a plaque to signify Electric Boat handing over the submarine to the U.S. Navy.
