On Monday, May 11th, we officially cut the ribbon on Pathways to the Deep, a brand-new interactive exhibit at Mystic Aquarium that connects ocean science, technology, exploration and careers through hands-on learning and discovery.
This collaborative effort between General Dynamics Electric Boat, Mystic Aquarium, the Submarine Industrial Base and Build Submarines was created to spark curiosity and show how a deeper understanding of our oceans can lead to real-world innovation, problem-solving and stewardship of marine ecosystems.

This exhibit was the result of more than a year of collaboration and planning, bringing together partners across education, workforce development, industry and community engagement to create an experience that is both educational and interactive for visitors of all ages.
Visitors can pilot a submarine down the Thames River, explore underwater using sound like a submarine or beluga whale, discover different career pathways through the “Oceans of Opportunity” career wheel and learn how buoyancy helps submarines dive deep beneath the surface.

We’d like to recognize several members of the Electric Boat team whose leadership and dedication helped make this project possible: Sean Morrone, Manager of Workforce Development; William Barber, Chief of Workforce Development; Amanda Gaccione, Chief of Recruiting Branding; and Kathy Sutton, Workforce Development Senior Specialist.
Projects like this are a great reminder of the impact our employees make, not only in supporting national defense, but in inspiring the next generation across our community.
If you’re planning a trip to Mystic Aquarium this summer, be sure to stop by the Main Gallery and check it out! Grab a membership, bring the family, and take a deep dive into Pathways to the Deep while exploring everything the aquarium has to offer. https://www.mysticaquarium.org/
