Rotation Programs

Our Youth Pathway programs are designed to immerse elementary, middle and high school students in the excitement of the maritime industry. Through educational outreach and nationally credentialed curriculums, students are inspired to get excited about a future in the trades.

The Professional Development Rotation Program provides an opportunity for salaried employees with a bachelor’s degree to rotate to diverse areas of Electric Boat to develop their overall knowledge of the EB, build contacts and advance their leadership skills.

The Engineering Rotation Program offers engineers the opportunity for technical development by rotating to different areas within engineering.

Leadership Development

Our Youth Pathway programs are designed to immerse elementary, middle and high school students in the excitement of the maritime industry. Through educational outreach and nationally credentialed curriculums, students are inspired to get excited about a future in the trades. 

Individual Contributors

Management Development University is a leadership development program to introduce non-represented hourly employees at Quonset Point, who are interested in potentially becoming a leader, to the tasks and duties of an Operations Supervisor. This program uses a blended learning approach including instructor-led classes, digital learning, shadowing and small projects.

Frontline Leaders

  1. Introduction to Supervision provides new frontline leaders with a baseline understanding of the role of a supervisor, including soft skills and Electric Boat-specific HR policies. Introduction to Supervision is required for all new frontline leaders.
  2. DRIVE is completed after a new frontline leader has been in their role for six months. This program builds skills in conflict management, influencing and building trust within a team, focusing on performance, diversity and inclusion and conflict. DRIVE is required for all new frontline leaders.
  3. Deckplate Leader Development Program (DLDP) Universal Pipeline for Supervisors provides the foundational, technical and leadership knowledge needed for success in Operations, Test and QA Supervision roles, including the OSHA-30 certification. This four-week pipeline experience includes a blend of instructor-led, team-based, hands-on and digital learning. This program is required for all new Operations, Test and QA Supervisors.
  4. D&E Tasks & Duties provides foundational, technical and leadership knowledge needed for success in Design and Engineering supervision roles. This three-part training covers challenging conversations, performance reviews and employee development. This program is required for all new Design and Engineering supervisors.
  5. The Career Development Program is a two-year leadership development program for engineers who want to work in Operations. Engineers with proven leadership skills are able to develop through leadership training, teambuilding, tactical skills training and a series of trade and supervisory rotations while working on a final capstone project. Participants must apply and be selected for this program.
  6. The Future Leader Group leadership development program contains a blended learning approach to develop the leadership skills of high potential frontline leaders and individual contributors to prepare them for future leadership positions. This program includes online modules in communication, conflict management, understanding your role as a leader, building trust, delegation, accountability, building high performing teams, coaching, change and agility and innovation, as well as networking and instructor-led classes. Participation in this program is based on selection by Executive Leadership and the Organizational Talent Organization.

Mid-Level Leaders
